The second turn i take Hengist and march strait on to Londinium. They tend to break the wall when they are in formation groups. And keep them in selection groups rather than formation groups. Just do not give them attack orders, only move orders as attack orders break the wall. Even though the merc cav are skirmishers, they can still hammer roman troops engaged with your infantry, and run down their missile troops.Īlso, be sure to use the shield wall on your Saxon Spears and Warlord! It gives your troops lovely buffs. Be mindful of the AI trying to rush you, pepper the roman garrison with heavy shot from your archers. Pick up the mercenary skirmisher cav and the onager (which is cheap, only 175 or so upkeep). Land right next to the settlement and hire some celtic mercenary troops.
